Robin’s Nest is twenty-nine minute and thirty-six second glimpse into the mind of Callum Brown. The songs spiral softly, getting to their destination at their own pace. The boatman calls to Tom Waits while watching Eraserhead at an outdoor cinema. The album sits perfectly between lo-fi sounds and delicately built instrumentals; it's the kind of album that would have cult status (whatever that means anymore) if it were released thirty years ago.

The song softly staggers around an eerie, hypnotic arrangement, like something in the corner of my vision. Girl Apocrypha continues to be a dealer of only the best nighttime grunge-pop on offer. The sparse arrangement leaves your vocals nowhere to hide, adding to the already raw and human texture of the song. Something we desperately need more of in these strange end days.
